Desires...

Psalm 37:4 ~ "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart."
Desires. Are they good or bad? Are they sinful or are they holy? It depends. What are you desiring?
There are many different desires. Not all of them are bad. For example. My parents and I planned that I would do volleyball this year. I was SO excited. But when my mom and I went to a volleyball meeting last Monday they were asking for my life (almost literally) Practice would be from 3:30 to 7:00 for five days for the next 3 months. I would also be gone almost every Saturday for and fundraising and other stuff. Well for a long story short, my parents and I prayed and asked God whether he wanted me to do it or not. Well in the end my parents decided not to put me in volleyball. Though it was not a bad desire I had, God had other plans. Other desires that are not bad are also mentioned in the Bible. Desires like desiring God. Desiring to be more like him. But other desires that are not good are on that are for selfish reasons, hatred reasons, sexual immorality reasons etc. And those ones we have to let go of. Ask God to change those desires for the desire to be more like him. It says in the Bible that God knows the desires of our hearts and that he can change desires.
Also ask God if it is a good desire. And trust him with your desires. Remember God loves you and knows what is best for you too. Also share your desires. Share them with someone if you are struggling whether they are good or not.
